About

This free eLearning program was developed as part of an Australian Government initiative, in conjunction with the National Disability Coordination Officer (NDCO) Program and the Australian Disability Clearinghouse on Education and Training (ADCET) .

Disability awareness is an important part of establishing inclusion for people with disability. Often our fears and discomfort about interacting with people with disability is based on lack of knowledge, uncertainties, and stereotypes that can influence your attitudes. It makes sense that the more informed you are, the more likely that you will feel comfortable communicating and interacting with someone with a disability at work, in education and training or in your community.

This site, Disability Awareness, provides the Introduction to Disability Awareness program which focuses on promoting an awareness of disability and the impact that societal attitudes and inherent stigma and discrimination have on the lives of people with disability.

The ADCET Academy site offers a range of additional eLearning programs to support disability practitioners, educators and professional staff in the Higher Education and Vocational Education and Training sectors.
