Introduction to Disability Awareness

The promotion of disability awareness in our workplaces and communities is vital to a society where people with disability are valued and included. For much of history, people with disability have experienced discrimination and stigma, often primarily associated with society’s misconceptions about their ability.

Overview of Program

This Disability Awareness eLearning training resource seeks to challenge ingrained cultural and attitudinal barriers that perpetuate discrimination and provides participants with a general overview of the legislative framework which supports the inclusion of people with disability in Australia.

While every effort has been made to develop modules that will inform people working in a wide range of jobs and organisations across Australia you may need to consider exploring further information within your organisation, community and state.

We have provided a range of additional resources and links throughout as well as at the end of the module.

The training consists of four modules which must be completed in successive order. Each module ends with a short quiz to allow participants to demonstrate their understanding.  You can complete the disability awareness eLearning training at your own pace and you do not need to finish the training in one sitting. The entire course should take an average of 90 to 120 minutes to complete.
